Complete and Incomplete Knowledge in Logical Information Systems

چکیده

We present a generalization of Levesque's logic All I Know by presenting it as an extension of usual modal logics. We study how logic All I Know can represent complete and incomplete knowledge in Logical Information Systems. In these information systems, a knowledge base is a collection of objects (e.g., les, bibliographical references) described in a logical way, furthermore in the same logic used for expressing queries. We show that usual All I Know (transitive and euclidean accessibility relation) is convenient for representing complete knowledge, but not for incomplete knowledge. For this, we use serial All I Know (serial accessibility relation).

Partial Knowledge in Membrane Systems: A Logical Approach

We propose a logic for specifying and proving properties of membrane systems. The main idea is to approach a membrane system by using the “point of view” of an external observer. Observers (as epistemic agents) accumulate their knowledge from the partial information they collect by observing subparts of the system and by applying logical reasoning to this information. We provide a formal framew...

Deriving Explanations From Partial Temporal Information

The representation and manipulation of natural human understanding of temporal phenomena is a fundamental field of study in Computer Science, which aims both to emulate human thinking, and to use the methods of human intelligence to underpin engineering solutions. In particular, in the domain of Artificial Intelligence, temporal knowledge may be uncertain and incomplete due to the unavailabilit...

Intuitive and logical way of thinking in the education of architectural design courses

Different approaches and methods are used in the architecture design process that logical and intuitional methods are the most common ones. The role of knowledge in each method is different.  Investigating aspects of knowledge demonstrated the hierarchy from data to wisdom and the interaction of explicit and tacit types, subjective and objective sources, and analytical and exploratory ways of p...

Social Value of Information and Optimal Communication Policy of Central Banks

Monetary policy as a tool for expectations management is believed to be most effective if it can coordinate the beliefs and expectations of the economic agents. The optimal communication policy is in an environment where central bank announcements are common knowledge and abundant information is complete transparency. The above conclusion is altered in the more realistic situation where economi...
